What are the chances?

One of my new favorite things is the "Watch Instantly" feature on NetFlix. It recently became possible for Mac users to use this feature and I was pretty stoked because renting movies are not easy on the wallet of a college student. And I have been taking full advantage of this new feature.

So, last night I decided that I was going to watch a movie while I was reading for class (because that is always a great way to be productive?) and randomly picked one: The Visitor. The thing that was funny about this is that I had not put any thought into picking the movie and just chose one that NetFlix had recommended for me. Turns out NetFlix knows me pretty well because the movie turned out to be about a strange relationship between a college professor and some immigrants that he ends up coming to care a whole lot about. The movie explores the experience that immigrants living in the US have to go through with the terribly complicated and confusing process of asylum. And anyone who knows me understands that this is at the heart of my passion for people.
